A community for freelance dance artists in Gothenburg
HUMANOGRAPHY
Strives to celebrate diversity, to visibilize and strengthen the free dance arts field in Gothenburg. The project builds a platform for artistic exchange and collective creation.
We develop new choreographic structures that explore the performance format, and different ways for dance to inhabit and thrive in the city environment. Dance events and urban interventions enable audiences to see sites and places of Gothenburg in a new way and for performers to meet a new audience outside the traditional stage rooms.
The project has celebrated International Dance day on the 29th of April every year since 2019 and also been part of Gothenburg 400’s anniversary.

WE ARE BRIDGES
Götaälvbron, 2021
On June 12, 2021, seventeen dance artists were the last civilians to be on the 84 year old bridge of Götaälv in Gothenburg right before its demolition process began. We are bridges is a historical moment and a ceremonial artistic work where we say goodbye to the old and welcome the new. The film works as a memorial over the bridge and its history and manifests the strength of a community. Here, human vulnerability is depicted in contrast to the hard metal and cement structures that hold the construction.

A multimedia exhibition from the three year long project Humanography was presented at Kronhuset in Gothenburg. The exhibition included photos, dance film screenings, lectures and live performances.

dance day
In celebration of the yearly International Dance Day (Dansens Dag) in April we gather dance colleagues and bring dance to the streets of Gothenburg.
The hustle and bustle of the city is an ever-changing choreography where people, traffic, commercialism, nature, history and architecture interact and confront each other in a never ending conversation. A collective of dance artists sweeps past the urban surroundings in an immediate intervention among citizens, strangers and fellow human beings.
2022
In 2022 about 60 dancers and musicians in different constellations explored the city in four different choreographic work during three hours.

The performance offers the public a place for reflection and poetic thought; an island of calm on a day full of energy. Dancers and musicians will meet on equal terms, searching for structure and reevaluating their everyday artistic choices. You are welcome to come and go as you please during the performance. The seats will be organised to offer an immersive experience, visually as well as aurally.

Procession is a choreographic walk for 19 musicians of GAO – Gothenburg Alternative Orchestra. Playing original music and mixing with melodies from different countries in war this procession is an artistic manifestation against wars as well as violence and fear that grow bigger everywhere as a consequence. While playing their instruments, the musicians perform choreographic actions and embark the audience with them on a journey in the neighborhood around Gustav Adolfs torg.

We dance through the city using concepts of opening our senses and being moved by the surroundings. Setting our body as part of the geography based on the idea of the performer as a channelizer of the environment’s information and energy.
